What I Do

My Approach
I seek to promote independence and self-sufficience in parents so they are not as dependent on outside services and have the tools and knowledge to help their child. Therefore, I emphasize parent education and training. I initially meet with parents to discuss their concerns, schedule evaluations if needed, review the results of evaluations, and then develop an individualized plan with the parents. In most cases, the parents will implement the plan, meet with me periodically to review how the plan is working, and discuss any changes that may be needed.

When direct intervention services are needed, I first discuss the treatment plan with parents so they understand how treatment will progress, how we will monitor improvement, and when we might expect treatment to be finished. I establish a baseline (how severe the problem is at first), provide direct intervention sessions with the parent present, monitor progress, and then conduct final transition sessions so the client can progress further without me.
